History of Statesboro Police Department

Chief of Police:
Constables were employed to enforce the laws before the Chief of Police
position was created.

Police Officers:
Patrolman Nathan Tremble Jr. was the first African American to be employed by the Statesboro Police Department.

The first African American to be a Detective, Division Commander, and Assistant Chief of the Statesboro Police Department is Major J.R. Holloway. Major Holloway continues to work with Statesboro P.D.


Major J.R. Holloway

Police Station:
Statesboro Police Department was located on the northeast corner of Seibald and Courtland Street from approximately 1911 until 1976.


First Police Station

In 1976, a new police department was built on the southwest corner of South College Street and West Grady Street .


Current Police Station

A new, state of the art 4.2 million dollar police department is scheduled to be completed in October 2006.
